Benjamin Discovery
I have been working on my discovery now for awhile and had sighted it in a month or so ago but recently as a result of making my shooting bench have decided to test out my zero to ensure it is dead on for the opening day of squirrel season on Sept 15.
I have a Benjamin Discovery in .22 Cal topped with a Leapers 3-9 x 40mm AO scope. I got my gun from Mac-1 airguns as it comes modded with a trigger job to smooth out the pull and lower the pull weight, as well as reshaping of the crown and a few orings replaced.
My zero on this gun is set at 30 yards, which is not really far but a good medium range for my hunting enviroment. I am shooting Crossman Premiers (14.3 gr) at a average of 822 FPS for a total of 21.46 ft lbs of energy.
I shot the below groups in one sitting one group is at 20 yards and it is a little high due to my zero being at 30 yards but it is still well within the 1-inch square and most improtantly a kill shot in the field.
I shot these groups off of a Caldwell Tackdriver shooting bag which i will be writing a review here for soon once i have had a few more sessions with it. I was also using the shooting bench i built and posted about in my previous post.
And now to the groups.
I shot these groups at 6 power on my scope.
- Benjamin Discovery 3-Shot group at 20 yards.
- Benjamin Discovery 3-Shot group covered with dime.
- Benjamin Discovery 5-Shot group at 30 yards.
- Benjamin Discovery 5-Shot group covered with nickle.
So here you can see the awesome accuracy these Crosman rifles are capable of and i why i have come to love this rifle in the field. That combined with 30 powerful shots i can comfortably have a great day afield with minimal effort in having to ock the rifle or having toworry about recharging the rifle.
I am looking forward to this squirrel season i feel more than ready, the bushytails better be worried!
